Entry to Latvia from high-risk country is allowed for persons, who have interoperable digital EU certificate of vaccination or recovering against Covid-19 (on a smart device or on a paper). The fact of vaccination or recovery is evidenced only by an interoperable certificate issued in the EU, the EEA countries, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Cabo Verde, El Salvador, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Israel, Iceland, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Panama, San Marino, Serbia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Togo, Turkey, Ukraine, UAE, Uruguay and The Vatican or a Certificate of vaccination or recovery issued in the USA, Australia and Canada.

Visa applicants have to appear in person when lodging an application for a short-stay Schengen visa in order to provide their biometric data (fingerprints). Fingerprint scans are not required for children under the age of 12. Applicants are required to provide new fingerprints once every five years.

The Consular department of the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia to the Russian Federation has suspended the acceptance of visa applications for citizens of the Russian Federation for an unlimited period

The Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in the Russian Federation indefinitely suspends the acceptance of visa applications for citizens of the Russian Federation.

Visa applicants have to appear in person when lodging an application for a short-stay Schengen visa in order to provide their biometric data (fingerprints). Fingerprint scans are not required for children under the age of 12. Applicants are required to provide new fingerprints once every five years. 

Important Note!

Specialized Visa Application Centre of the Republic of Latvia provides services on the ordinary reception of documents for short-stay Schengen visas (Type C).

Dear applicants, please note that documents will be accepted by the Visa Application Centre of the Republic of Latvia only from:

- Citizens of the Russian Federation;
- Third country nationals legally residing in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Type C Schengen visa is necessary if you plan to visit Latvia for business, tourism or private purposes, and your total stay in the Schengen Area will not exceed 90 days within six months.
