Schengen Visa

The Schengen visa allows to stay in the territory of the Republic of Latvia for a limited period specified in the visa and cross the internal borders of other member states of the Schengen Agreement.

A single Schengen visa is valid in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Estonia, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland.

Under the terms of the Schengen Agreement the Schengen visa must be obtained at the Consulate of the country being the main purpose of the trip.

If during one trip the applicant plans to visit several Schengen countries, he/she must apply for a Schengen visa at the Consulate of the country where the applicant expects to spend more days.

If the number of days in all countries is the same, the visa shall be issued by the Consulate of the country of first entry.

In the case when the trip includes several destinations or when several separate trips are planned during the first 2 months for a Schengen visa, the applicant should apply for the Consulate of the country that is the main destination (it is planned to spend more days or where the main purpose of the stay is).

Schengen visa must be requested at the Consulate of the country being the main purpose of the planned visit. ‪If during your trip you expect to visit several countries and the duration of stay in each country is the same, which does not allow to identify the "main" host country, the visa shall be requested in the country of first entry.
